About HYCCC
At Harvard Yard Child Care Center we take a developmental approach to our work with children. We pull from the teachings of Vygotsky, Montessori, the schools of Reggio Emilia, and above all, Piaget, for it is through play that children make new skills and concepts their own. We work in partnership with parents to build a community with children as our primary focus. Our goal is a warm, safe and stimulating environment in which children, parents and our professional staff may grow.
We believe that every member of our community – children and adults – can benefit from an atmosphere that combines cooperation with respect and appreciation for the individual. We believe in developing strong individual relationships, stressing respect for all children and their families. When Harvard Yard Child Care Center was founded in 1971, it was founded as a cooperative child care center. Today parents to stay involved through weekly parent class times, volunteer opportunities and parent workshops.
