Debbie believes it an absolute privilege to be part of a community that considers teachers as learners alongside each highly capable and curious child. As a parent and an educator, Debbie is keenly aware of the importance and the impact that high quality child care has on families lives. When we interact, choose materials, set up environments, as well as offer experiences and dialogue for young children, every detail matters. Both of Debbie’s children left PTCC having a strong sense-of-self and important skills to recognize injustice in the world. The community resource that this early childhood center has been for her family has been invaluable. Debbie wishes that for every family and educator who spends time at PTCC. Nicole Lavargna

Nicole Lavargna

Director of Radcliffe Child Care Center

Nicole’s career in Early Childhood Education started in 2002. She started as an infant assistant teacher with Partners Child Care Services and her career flourished there over the course of 19 years. She pursued her Masters of Education and received her degree in May 2018 from Salem State University. Pursuing her Masters degree while working full-time as a Director was one of the busiest and most challenging times in her life. The reward, however, was graduating on what would have been her mother’s 60th birthday, knowing it was her who was guiding her along. She took a short break from child care, and found she missed working with children. Watching each child thrive in an environment that is supportive, engaging, comfortable and built on trust is not only rewarding but shows our impact in their early years. Working with the teachers that choose Early Education as their career path is a wonderful part of the job. It takes a truly special person to work with young children and she’s always admired the teachers she worked with as they navigated best practice and worked to positively impact each child’s life. She loves working with the brilliant team at RCCC and helping to mold the minds of the littles ones that walk through the doors each day.

Patty Pirone

Patty Pirone

Director of Western Avenue Children's Center

I began my work in the Early Education field as a substitute preschool teacher one summer during college, and discovered what has become a life-long love for very young children. My curiosity drove me to study Child Development at The Eliot Pearson School of Tufts University, and then to a position at the Radcliffe Childcare Center, where I was first introduced to the practice of Reggio Emilia. From there I moved into a teaching/directing role, and then onto other leadership roles in various Boston-area programs, always striving to support teachers to develop child-centered learning environments and to serve the needs of parents as they attempt the tight-rope walk of balancing work and family life. (I am also the parent of a college sophomore) I am very enthusiastic to work with WACC’s dynamic administrative team to create a learning and care environment that embraces children and families into a community of wonder and understanding.
